The wife and I holidayed on the Sunshine Coast for a week early in September 2026 hoping for some warmer weather.  We had all four seasons during our week stay.  The day we had booked for the Aquaduck Sunshine Coast was the worst weather.  It was very windy and raining.  I was concerned about the stability of the Aquaduck on the waterways in such windy conditions and sitting in wet clothing for the entire trip didn’t enhance my enthusiasm for the adventure.   Expecting to receive an email or text message on the morning of out tour to say the trip was cancelled, no such notification arrived.
Before leaving to go to Mooloolaba, we stopped off to buy some ponchos to help protect us from the wet.  We did arrive early as recommended for our 10:45 departure and just managed to get one of the last car parking bays remaining.  I must say that the most unpleasant part of the tour was getting from the car and waiting at the assembly point outside the Sea Life venue.  The wind and rain didn’t let up.
Shortly before our departure time, the Aquaduck rolled around the corner in all its glory with a bunch of happy (and dry) passengers from the earlier departure.  The staff on the duck had rolled down the clear side screens to keep the weather out.  We were soon checked in and seated for our departure.
Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, it was quite comfortable onboard.  We made or way around the streets of Mooloolaba and then down to the Mooloolaba Boat Ramp adjacent to the Coast Guard building.  On the water, the duck was surprisingly stable given the wind conditions.  The duck travelled the canals and Mooloolaba River and ventured as far as the river entrance but not out onto the ocean.
Thank you to the crew who entertained the passengers and provided wonderful information about the sights and highlights of the tour.  A most enjoyable outing and could have only wished for better weather on the day.
