Quack… Duck Tours All Over The Globe
From Boston to Dublin, Rotorua to the Sunshine Coast, amphibious duck tours are extremely popular across the world! Although our international travel plans are on hold at the moment, we can still plan and dream. So hold on to your feathers as we dive in deep to find out why duck tours are so popular worldwide. Once the boarders are open again you will have all the info you need to take yourself on your very own international Duck tour.
Here we go-o Quacking all over the world! Our Quacktacular itinerary includes:
We kick off our world tour in Dublin, Ireland with City Splash Tours
Previously known as Viking Splash Tours, these tours have been operating in Dublin since 2006. City Splash Tours showcases the history, culture and top sites of Dublin including U2’s studio, Grafton Street, St Patrick’s Cathedral, and Oscar Wilde’s house. In true jovial Irish spirit, the crew and customers wear Viking hats, horns and helmets, making for very unique selfies. You can check out the photos by searching the hashtag #VikingSplashSelfie.
The highlight of the tour is the duck splashing in the Grand Canal Basin at the end for a very short cruise with a few sites to see from the river.
The vessel used is a DUKW from World War 2. This is one tough old duck. She is constructed of steel making her less buoyant in the water. Due to her weight, they can only do short bursts on the water, life jackets are required to be worn at all times and floatation devices are attached to the sides of the vessel.
Tours depart from St Stephens Green and with all the Irish craic it’s a quack up to be sure to be sure!
It’s a quick paddle across the Irish Sea with a Quack Quack Quack to our next duck tours adventure. This time it’s London Duck Tours.
There are so many sites to view in London from the duck including the London eye, horse guards, Downing Street, houses of parliament, Nelson’s column, St James Palace, Buckingham Palace, and Westminster Abbey. You’d be quackers to try and visit all these highlights in one day. So there are three tours available. You can choose from Classic London Sightseeing, the historical D-Day Duck Tour and City of London Tour.
The ducks used in London are the same as those in Dublin, DUKW World War 2 models that have been refurbished.
London Duck Tours also have some great themed tours available: Pirate treasure hunt tour (solve pirate themed puzzles) James Bond Tour, and Code Breaker Challenge. They also offer seasonal tours with the ‘Easter Pirate Adventure’ and ‘A Quackmas Carol’ Christmas themed tour operating during December.
It’s time for the great migration. Flap your wings and take flight as we leave Europe and Quack, Quack Quack our way across the Atlantic to Halifax Nova Scotia in the land of the maple leaf.
Halifax Harbour Hopper decided not to go with the duck theme, instead focussing on the amphibious nature of the vessel and opting for a frog theme with their ‘Hopper’. Or maybe it’s the lack of suspension which is a signature feature of the all ducks that inspired this froggy name?
Hop on board (pun intended J) for a tour past some of Halifax’s famous sights such as the Halifax Public Gardens, Citadel Hill National Historic Site, St. Paul’s Church and bustling Spring Garden Road. Frogs never stay away from the water for too long and the Hopper makes its splashdown into Halifax Harbour. The tour continues on the water and guests learn interesting facts about the naval dockyards and Halifax’s connection to the tragic sinking of the Titanic.
The 45-minute harbour hopper tours operate on a LARC V, the same vessel we use here at Aquaduck, and are only available six months of the year due to weather. So be sure to plan accordingly if you’re intending to visit.
With a quack quack quack, we waddle across the border and into the US to learn about Boston Duck Tours.
This refurbished WW2 army duck showcases Boston’s rich history and highlights include Boston common and the public garden, Faneuil Hall and the old and current state houses. The amphibious tour includes a cruise down the Charles River seeing the sights from the water. Your tour commentary is entertainingly provided by the onboard conDUCKtors. Dressed and acting in-character, conDUCKtors include Dr Quack, Duck Tracy, Professor Quackenstein, and Bubbles among others. You can read all their character profiles online.
Palm Beach Duck
Further south, sunny Palm Beach, Florida is home to the Diva Duck. And what a classy Duck she is. Not just any old amphibious vessel, the Diva duck prefers to be known as a hydra-terra and her manufacturers claim she in unsinkable. Like the Diva herself, this tour is one of glamour. The pick-up point is at Palm Beach Outlets shopping mall and travels through the neighbourhoods of Palm Beach Island past historic landmarks and majestic natural scenery. The Diva then elegantly splashes into the blue waters of the Intercoastal Waterway for a cruise past the yachts and homes of Florida’s rich and famous. Keep an eye out for Donald Duck, oops I mean Trump.
If you choose to take this tour you’ll get to spend 75minutes on tour with the Diva while her crew share interesting facts and quack a few jokes. We found a discount coupon on their website should you wish to book.
Have you ever heard of a surfing Duck? Well, it’s time to let down your feathers and settle into Island time as we Quack Quack Quack on over to Hawaii.
Honolulu is home to Hawaii Duck. This former WW2 amphibious vessel offers two tours to choose from. The first is a 75 minute land and sea tour of Waikiki and Diamond Head where guests can enjoy key tourist sights on land before splashing down into the ocean. Enjoy the view of Hawaii with its blue waters, sandy beaches and famous Waikiki high rises, it looks just like a postcard. Whilts on the water, keep your eyes open for a ‘Honu’ coming up for air. The Honu is a Hawaiian green sea turtle which symbolises good luck.
Friday night is party night on the Hawaii Duck! Shake your tail feather and celebrate the start of the weekend. This 1hour tour features live entertainment on-board as you take in the views of the illuminated city across the water and watch the fireworks from the water.
With a bit of ducking and diving we quack over to Asia to one of the worlds greenest cities, Singapore, where nearly half its land area is covered in greenlife, a perfect habitat for Ducks.
Duck tours Singapore operate 1hour ‘Wacky Ducktours’ in a refurbished WW2 amphibious vessel. The tour begins with the signature ‘splashdown’ into the Marina Bay. Enjoy sightseeing across the bay as you pass the Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the unique durian shaped Esplanade Theatre, and the towering Merlion. The Duck then waddles back onto land and your city tour passes the Singapore Flyer observation wheel before journeying through the civic district to see the Old Supreme Court, Cenotaph war memorial and the historic Padang.
Tours depart from Suntec City Convention Centre. Ask about the complimentary 1-way transfer from over 40 city bus stops to the ‘Big Bus & Duck Tourist Hub’ where your tour begins.

We wave goodbye to the Merlion and Quack Quack Quack over to New Zealand’s north island for Rotorua Duck tours.
Rotorua Duck have two DUKW vessels in their fleet. These ex WW2 vessels are practical but we think our Aquaduck would definitely win ‘Pin-up Duck’ of the year compared to these ugly ducklings. These guys offer two great sightseeing tours through the Rotorua lakes district, allowing patrons to experience, explore and reconnect with nature.
The Rotorua City and Lakes 90 minute tour includes city sightseeing through the township of Rotorua where you will learn about the origins of Maori culture. Then experience not 1 but 2 splashdowns as you explore the stunning natural scenery of lake Tikitapu and Okareka. Your on board conDUCKtors provide informative commentary whilst keeping you entertained as they quack a few jokes along the way.
The 2 hour Tarawera and Lakes Eco Tour takes patrons on a deeper journey through the Rotorua Lakes District taking in the stunning natural landscapes and historically significant sites including Mt Tarawera. This tour includes 3 splashdowns and water cruises through Lake Okareka, Lake Tikatapu and Lake Tarawera. Stretch your legs as you disembark at Lake Tarawera and take a short stroll through the native bush to see Maori faces carved into the rocks. Your conDUCKtor provides the perfect balance of lame jokes and informative commentary about the ecology, geology and Maori history and culture including the legend of Rotokakahi (Green Lake).
